When buying tiles
- Measure the area and add some extra for cutting and breakage.
- Buy all tiles from the same batch so the shade matches.
- Use non-slip tiles in bathrooms and outside areas.
- Keep a few spare tiles for later repairs.
During fitting
- Check the floor is level and clean before fitting starts.
- Bathroom floors need a slope towards the drain.
- Check for hollow sound by tapping tiles after they set.
- Agree the per square foot rate and who supplies cement and grout.
